Description

A fine French old master violin made by Francois Caussin c. 1860 who in turn was influenced by the early Milanese makers.

This is a wonderful, rarely beautiful example and excellent sounding instrument. a remarkable master violin catching the eye, with a striking outline, distinctive fluting and an eye-catching antiqued varnish, all marked by the style of the most prominent figures in French violin making that was prevalent in the mid 19th century. The darkened area under the bridge is intended to imitate the marks left by rosin build up in the 19th century on fine antique violins.

The violin is accompanying by J.J. Rampal certificate. The length over the back is 35.8 cm.

The aesthetic of this great violin is as fascinating and enigmatic as its sound, powerful, rich in volume, mature and radiant, suitable for professional soloist play.
